Cupra Tavascan: Prices and sales launch

The concept vehicle was already on display at the IAA in 2019 and the production model has come quite close to the concept. We are talking about the Cupra Tavascan, which celebrated its world premiere on April 21. The electric SUV will be launched in 2024, prices are not yet known.

Cupra Tavascan: Exterior Design

The Tavascan is the first car to stand for Cupra's new design language. Subsequent models will be based on this. It was to be an unconventional SUV style, daring, with strong lines and athletic design.

The front has a very detailed look, which makes the Tavascan look striking on the one hand, and mysterious on the other. The centre of the front is the triangular light signature in the headlights, which are designed as matrix LED lights. The Cupra logo is also illuminated – as one of the first production models in Europe.

On the sides, you can see the sporty proportions of the Cupra, which are supposed to be reminiscent of racetrack vehicles. It should already show what performance is available. The surface is muscular and sporty. The so-called "helmet concept", the polished black A-pillar connects to the windshield and thus releases a panoramic effect, like a racing driver's visor, clearly shows the focus on performance once again.

A look at the rear shows above all the rear lights, which are characteristically shaped and also have a triangular design. The logo is also illuminated at the rear and underneath you will find the unmistakable brand lettering.

All the details at the rear help to make the Tavascan look wider. From the lighting to the rear diffuser.

Cupra Tavascan: Engines and range

As far as the engines are concerned, the focus here has been on maximum driving pleasure. It uses the Volkswagen Group's MEB platform, which offers advanced, all-electric systems.

The top version will be the Tavascan VZ. Here, the focus is on dual motorization, i.e. a 210 kW rear motor and a front motor with 80 kW. The combined power of this model is a whopping 340 hp and a torque of 545 Nm at the rear and 134 Nm at the front. The VZ can accelerate from a standstill to 50 km/h in just 2.4 seconds and to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds.

There will also be a version with one engine, here only a rear motor will be used. The output here is 286 hp. A 77 kWh battery is used as the battery, which should enable a range of 549 kilometres. For the VZ, the range is said to be 517 kilometres.

Eine Wärmepumpe kann optional hinzubestellt werden, sie sorgt dann dafür, dass der Akku effizienter läuft und auf den richtigen Temperaturen ist.

Cupra Tavascan: Interior

So far, there is only the picture from the concept of the interior. However, the sculptural exterior design is also to be reflected in the interior. The focus is on the combination of driver orientation and passenger comfort.

The centerpiece supports the entire interior and helps to enhance the impression of the unconventional design. Among other things, floating elements can be found. The screens thus convey a feeling of lightness. The 15-inch screen is the largest that has been installed in Cupra models so far.

You can feel comfort in the seats, because although you get sports seats as standard, you sit extremely comfortably. In addition, the materials are sustainable – up to 90 percent recycled polyester and up to 50 percent recycled microfibers are used.

The lighting and copper-colored details also play a central role. LED lights are used everywhere in the vehicle. The copper accents emphasise elegance and at the same time create a good contrast in combination with the colours for the door panels.

Overall, the Tavascan is very suitable for everyday use. With many storage spaces in the interior and a trunk volume of 540 liters.
